LELAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOST 50th ANNUAL MEETING
Leland, MS – The Leland Chamber of Commerce is preparing to host its 50th Annual Meeting. The event will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Buster Morlino Community Center on Old Hwy 61 in Leland. The event will start at 5:30 with a business showcase and networking, and dinner will be served at 6:30 with a program following.
“This is a special anniversary, and we’re planning quite the party to commemorate this milestone,” says Melia Christensen, Executive Director of the Leland Chamber of Commerce.
The theme for the event is the 1960’s, and guests are encouraged to dress in 1960’s fashion. In place of a keynote speaker, the Chamber is working with a local group to produce game-show style entertainment that will engage the audience in a series of nostalgic trivia games focused on 1960’s pop culture and the last 50 years in Leland.
Rob Walters, manager at the Stop n Shop in Leland and President of the Leland Chamber says this program is aimed at fun. “We host this event every year, and we want to shake things up this year,” says Walters. “We’ve never done anything like this before, and it’s gonna be FUN.”
Christensen adds, “We want to take the opportunity this year to celebrate our history – the last 50 years in Leland, and the history of what the Chamber has accomplished in the community.”
Tickets are $35 each, or $280 for a table of eight. Chamber member businesses can also purchase a showcase booth, which will allow them to setup a display at the event for $150. The showcase includes two dinner tickets.
Each year, the Chamber honors individuals and businesses in the community by presenting awards at the banquet. This year, the Chamber will present awards for Business of the Year, Distinguished Service, Community Service, Achievement Ambassador and Policeman, Fireman and Educator of the Year.
The event will also feature a silent auction, and the Chamber is soliciting donated items from area businesses to feature in the auction.
