August 11, 2014 - The Chamber & EDC of Washington County has secured a land option at the 61 & 82 Leland Industrial Site. The 475 acre parcel sits at the intersection of two key state highways and lies just north of the Pepsi Distribution Center.
Executive Director Cary Karlson of the Washington County EDC says, "It has been a great effort with support from the Leland Board of Aldermen, Mayor of Leland Kenny Thomas, Melia Christensen and Stephanie Patton of the Leland Chamber of Commerce, Bill Mayton (property owner) and others to make this new industrial site a reality."
"Leland is very proud to have an industrial site and we are thankful to everyone that has helped us," says Kenny Thomas, Mayor of Leland.
"Today's ribbon cutting is a result of what a successful partnership between city, county and state economic organizations should look like," says Stephanie Patton, Board President of the Leland Chamber of Commerce. "Each of the groups have invested in this project and have worked together with the landowner's investment to develop something that meets the needs of prospective industries."
The site marks the second industrial site secured by the Chamber & EDC of Washington County. The first site, called Greenpointe, was announced in March of this year and sits in Greenville along Highway 1, near the Arkansas Bridge. "With both the Greenpointe site and the 61 & 82 Leland Industrial Park, we now have two attractive sites for immediate industrial development, which is moving Washington County in the right direction," says Karlson.
