Leland’s Relaunch

Contributions to Leland’s Revitalization: The Galloway Family

Owners, Jerry and Misty Galloway, along with their children Miller and Bella Gehrke, are intently focused on revitalizing Leland, Mississippi, into a much sought-after tourist destination in the Mississippi Delta. The Galloway’s revitalization projects in Leland, MS, are all self-funded investment efforts in hospitality aimed at transforming what was once underutilized, derelict historic buildings into enticing reimagined spaces to eat, shop, and experience the magic of the historic Delta Mississippi town.  Our focus is on growing tourism and rebranding Leland into a haven for travelers seeking quaint southern towns to explore.

The completion of the family’s projects highlights an array of current projects and big picture thinking on how to better generate foot traffic across the historic district to include downtown and creek-front spaces while also driving economic development, including tourism, retail, business, and residential growth for Leland. The first project, the revitalization of The Thompson House Inn debuted in 2023. What was once an event center/bed and breakfast has evolved into a boutique inn featuring an on-site French Creole restaurant, The 1902 T.H. Restaurant & Bar, to include a handcrafted cocktail bar as well as a speakeasy in the mansion’s basement. Opening early 2026, The 1902 Brocante is the next addition to open in the Galloway’s portfolio of revitalization projects to boost tourism in Leland. Extending their brand of hospitality with the addition of another restaurant and shopping venue, The Galloway’s Brocante will offer a Parisian-style bistro, flower market and antique shopping experience for guests coming to Leland.

The Galloway family has other revitalization projects in the works for Leland, including the addition of more overnight rentals to accommodate the boost in tourism that the various shops and restaurants located in the historic district of Leland will no doubt bring to town. The blueprint for the Galloway’s aspirations for expanding Leland’s capacity for tourism is about historic preservation, revitalization, and growth. Each new store, innovative experience, and reimagined historic building represents confidence that Leland can reinvent itself to exceed existing capacity and meet modern needs. If momentum holds, Leland’s story will evolve from recovery through revitalization to renewal, and the Galloway family are proud to be a small part of that transformation.
